Monthly updates...

Here's what we have been up to in the last 2 months...

Wes got a part time job teaching at Shadle High School teaching Spanish.

I increased my hours to full time which is three twelve hour night shifts per week, which doesn't really wound like a lot...but I have to say it's pretty exhausting...can't wait to decrease my hours again!

We went home for Thanksgiving (kind of, we really went the week before) and enjoyed meeting Abigail, my brand new niece!

Oliver slammed his finger in our wooden bench which broke his finger and made his entire nail come off.  We made our first trip to the ER with him and tried Versed for the first time, which made him really loopy and funny!  And made the visit bearable!

I turned 29...booo my last year in my 20's has arrived!

In the last week or so Oli has found a new obsession...he looks up and the TV and says "Choo Choo" which means he wants to watch Thomas the Train.  Which when I say watch it really means he wants it on as background noise while he goes about his normal playing/getting into everything!  He only actually watches about 2-3 minutes of it at the beginning!  Oliver also has started to talk a lot more lately.  He started calling Mitzy "Mimi" which is really cute and he loves to give her hugs and kisses!  Well I was going to put pictures up, but apparently I would have to pay for more storage...that sucks!!  Anyone know how to get around that?

Five Years!!!

Five years ago last Friday I married my best friend!!  This weekend Wes and I went to Leavenworth, where we went on our honeymoon and stayed in the very same little cabin (Thanks to the Fromms)!! When we walked into the cabin Wes and I both felt a wave of nostalgia!  It was so fun to go back there!!  Needless to say the stay was a little different with Oliver "sleeping" in the same one roomed cabin as we did!  We left Friday evening around 6:30 and arrived around 10, Oliver slept for about an hour and a half in the car which was the perfect little nap for him!  He's never been a great sleeper when we are away from home and never slept well in our bed either.  So we were up until 12:30!! I wish I had a picture of the way he fell asleep on me (but I couldn't risk it!)  Anyway we didn't get much sleep because he woke up again at 5:20 ready to be up for the day!  Getting no sleep was very unfortunate for me because I was running the half marathon Saturday morning!
I ran the half with Jen Martin and Steph Fromm, my 2 college roommates!  Honestly none of us trained that diligently for it, I think the longest I ran before it was 7 miles...so we were all a little nervous.  Plus I played soccer for the first time in 2 years on Monday and rolled my ankle which really sucked!!  Luckily it felt way better on Saturday than it did even the day before!  It really didn't bug me the whole time I was running!  While we were waiting for the race to start we were all wondering whose dumb idea it really was to run this thing!!  But once we got started we all did great!  We had to stop and stretch and have a bathroom break, but overall for not training we did pretty well and actually had a lot of fun!  We were all hurting at the end (and am still hurting) but we got to just visit (kid free), enjoy the scenery and company for 2 hours!!  Its funny because I ran a Marathon 3 years ago, but trained for it, and today I feel like I'm just as sore after a half than that full!!  After finishing the race we all just hung out at Steph's inlaw's house with our families and went downtown Leavenworth and ate Bavarian sausage and gelato!  Wes and I left that evening as we were both a little exhausted after getting minimal sleep the night before and didn't want to do it again!!

The last Month

Over the last month we have been pretty busy!  It seems like I've been gone for the last month straight!  I know that isn't the case, but I've been gone quite a bit and when I am home I'm working to make up for it!!  Here's what has happened:

Wes's sister Emily came to visit for the first two weeks of July.  We spent a lot of time with her and Linda ate a lot of great food, went to the dog park, and went to Lake Roosevelt for a day at the beach!

We went to Olympia for Carson's farewell.  He is currently in the MTC and will be serving a mission for the LDS church in Tampa Florida Spanish speaking.  So all the siblings and most of their families were in Olympia for the weekend.  The last time we will all be together for 2 years!!

We took Oliver camping for the first time at Sullivan lake for a Family reunion.  Overall he did pretty well except for the fact that he woke up around 5am every morning and wouldn't go back to sleep!  Thank goodness I brought my jogging stroller, because he napped in that thing at the beach once or twice a day!  He was a dirty mess but I just had to embrase it because we were camping!

Oliver and I just got home last night from a road trip with Emy, my older sister, and her 3 kids to Cardston Alberta Canada to visit family!  That was a 7-8 hour drive from Spokane, needless to say that was a little crazy!!  We had tons of fun, but Oliver was at a really hard age...I had to follow him around everywhere because my grandparents don't have their house childproof house...I can't imagine why not...

First time on a horse!  He loved the horses!!

First quad ride!

So its been crazy but really great to spend so much time with family!!  Here are some pictures from the last month!!

Walking

The Cabalas advertisement...

Oliver's belly is hard to fit in the shirt!

Oliver started walking at 13 months...just a few steps here and there with lots of encouragement.  Then last Tuesday he figured out how to stand up without holding on to anything and now he's walking everywhere!!  Its really fun, now I just need to find shoes that will fit his fat feet so he can actually walk outside!
